Why we're consulting

In line with our Community Engagement Policy and the Local Government Act 2020, we involve the community and seek feedback to inform the building of the Draft Budget 2023-2024.

The budget is an important document as it outlines how we will deliver services and programs to our community. It covers services like managing waste, upgrading our infrastructure, community facilities and parks, operating our libraries, recreation centres, events and services to people at all stages of life.

At the council meeting in July 2022, it was resolved the Community Grants program be reviewed in line with consultation for the annual budget. You can read more about the Community Grants program and provide feedback here.

We're asking you to share what you think the priorities should be and what you want to see in Wodonga.

Your feedback as part of this consultation will shape the development of the Draft Budget 2023-2024.

We hope to deliver a draft budget that not only meets the needs of our community but strengthens it.

Once developed, the draft budget will be presented to the community for further feedback in May 2023.

Background

Similar to any household budget, there are essentials and there are constraints. Unfortunately, we can’t buy everything we want but community feedback is valuable in creating change and to help shape the budget.

In 2022, community feedback saw the inclusion of the reconstruction of Schubert Crescent, the Flying Fruit Fly Circus Borderville cross-border event and footpaths around Kinchington Road to provide safe walkways for students, added to the budget and capital works plans.
